The Church of NathanYr. of our Nathan, MMXXVI
Rite III  ·  The Recorded WordAs set down, as read aloud

Doctrine.

Of the teachings & the scripture, set down for the faithful.

The Five Tenets —

  1. I.

    Of the Voice.

Truth, when spoken aloud before the assembly, becomes binding. Truth whispered binds nothing.

  2. II.

    Of the Answer.

An answer given is final. The faithful do not amend. They are amended.

  3. III.

    Of the Reckoning.

Score is not punishment. Score is only the shape the answer leaves behind.

  4. IV.

    Of Presiding.

Whosoever presides does so under Nathan, and is responsible for the rite as Nathan would be responsible.

  5. V.

    Of Kneeling.

To kneel is to enter willingly. No contestant is taken. Every contestant is given.

From the Book of the Assembly —

"And he gathered them, and made of their voices a single voice, and of their answers a judgement. And the assembly went out from him sorted — not punished, but known."
— Bk. of the Assembly, I:7–8
